Happy Argyle Sweater Day! The greatest day of the year! The McIntoshes and Burkes are very very into traditions, we like them, they make us happy. For every Thanksgiving of my childhood my two cousins, four siblings, two uncles, an aunt and my parents and I would visit my grandmother in Connecticut. We would all stuff into Grandma's little apartment and go out to eat for Thanksgiving at a local restaurant. And on Black Friday, in order to get all of the tiny wound up children out of the apartment, we would all go to Barnes and Noble and then out for lunch, probably for burgers. We are no longer little and the celebration shifted to Pennsylvania or Virginia depending on the year but we still do the bookstore and lunch. We call it Argyle Sweater Day. We wear argyle sweaters and pinch each other under tables despite our advanced age and all wind up in the cafe of the bookstore with stacks of books before us and don't read, just chat. This year one of my cousins is in Russia and one of my sisters is in Texas so we won't have the entire clan together but argyle will be donned and books will be bought and we will all eat burgers and a blurry jumping photo will be taken in a parking lot.
Happy Argyle Sweater Day to you and yours, pinch them to show them you love them and wrap yourself in wool.
